Description

The project ADAPTACLIMA-EPAL aims to provide to the Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres (EPAL) an adaptation strategy in the medium and long term to reduce the vulnerabilities of their activities to climate change. It should be noted that the scenarios obtained with the global and regional climate models are affected by some uncertainty. However, its use based on the precautionary principle is currently considered the best way to incorporate climate change adaptation planning andmanagement for enterprises.

The analysis of scenarios and vulnerabilities will identify, select and evaluate adaptation options of EPAL to climate change, in order to minimize adverse impacts and maximize the new opportunities that may arise for the company. Adaptation is a process of medium and long term, based on an initial strategy to be periodically revisited and evaluated. This process should involve all entities that are somehow involved in the activity of EPAL (public, private and consumers).
